Dear Middletown Township Public School Community,

Over the coming months, we are seeking your participation in an initiative that will have a lasting impact on our children and the community. We will be beginning a strategic planning process that, with your input, will help us re-imagine our educational system, to ensure that we are doing all we can to prepare future generations of children for success. In order to do this, we will require contributions from all of our stakeholders.

The goal is that by early next year, our school community will have a living, breathing, actionable, trackable plan that will serve as our strategic compass over the next five years and beyond. The goal is to create a clear, concise set of priorities that everyone knows, understands and is committed to.

The first step in this process is gathering feedback, ideas and suggestions from the school community. How will the world of education and the community change over the next five years? What will the community need to do to be successful in that new environment and how will we measure that success? What are the challenges we will be facing and what opportunities will we have? How will we systemically transform our District to meet those challenges and take advantage of those opportunities? What would you like to see changed, improved, or kept the same in our schools? What skills and qualities should our graduates possess?

We will be providing many opportunities for you to have your voice heard, including:

Community Forums: The District will convene a series of public conversations to gather public feedback. These events are open to all members of our community. Dates and locations will be determined shortly and published on the district website, social media platforms, and other publications.

Surveys: Online surveys will be available to students, staff, parents, and community members. Staff, parents and students will receive an email with links to the surveys. These surveys will also be posted and accessible in the Strategic Planning Section of the district website https://www.middletownk12.org/domain/110.

General Feedback: General community feedback about strategic planning should be directed via email (strategicplanning@middletownk21.org) or to the Strategic Planning Section of the district website where individuals can track the progress of the plan and submit their ideas and feedback or by mail to the William O. George, III, Ed.D., Superintendent of Schools at Middletown Township Board of Education Administrative Offices, PO Box 4170, Middletown, NJ 07748.

In this way we will not only welcome your input but we will depend on it as we transform your ideas into a strategic plan to be adopted by the Middletown Township Board of Education. The Board of Education - Strategic Planning Steering Committee will be presenting a Strategic Planning Committee Update at the June 19, 2019 board workshop meeting to provide details on the process to date.

Please know we genuinely value your input and invite you to participate in this process. We hope you will join us in developing an innovative, meaningful, and effective strategic plan, one that honors the proud legacy of our District and positions our students for success in the years ahead.

Thank you for your support and participation.

Pamela R Rogers Board President
William 0. George, III, Ed.D. Superintendent of Schools
