Middletown Ranks Among Safest Towns in America: Report

Middletown Twp. made the top 100 safest cities in the United States, according to a new analysis by SafeWise.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ – Middletown Twp. made the top 100 safest cities in the United States, according to a new analysis by SafeWise. Middletown ranked No. 76 on the 2020 SafeWise list, which looked at crime reports and data. Nearby Manalapan was No. 80.

The home security database recently released its annual Safest Cities report using FBI crime report statistics and population data. The data used was from 2018, the most recent year for which data was available.

The safest town in the country is Broadview Heights in Ohio, according to the study. In New Jersey, the crown goes to North Jersey's Bergenfield, which ranked at number five on the list.

For the second year in a row, the Garden State dominates the list, making up 25% of the safest cities in the nation. In 2018, Manalapan reported only .3 violent crimes per 1,000 residents.
