Middletown Remembers The 37 Residents Killed On Sept. 11

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Join your fellow neighbors for a moment of silence and wreath laying to honor the 37 Middletown residents who died 18 years ago in the World Trade Center Sept. 11, 2001 attack. The full list of their names is below.

The ceremony will be from 7:15 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the Middletown World Trade Center Memorial Gardens, 36 Church Street in Middletown. Park at the Middletown Train Station. Police will be directing traffic. Tribute will be held rain or shine. If you cannot make that Wednesday night, Monmouth County will have a separate memorial service at 8 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Mitchell.

Middletown was the second hardest hit city after New York City, per capita, with 37 residents dying when the World Trade Center was hit in a terrorist attack. In fact, to many in the Bayshore area a poignant memory of 9/11 is not just the burning trade towers, but also the commuter bus and train station parking lots, which sat full of parked cars in the days after the terror attacks. Many of those commuters would never come home from work that day.
