Middletown School Superintendent Talks Reopening Plan In Video
Due to last week's storm, Middletown parents now have 'til midnight Tuesday to let the district know if their kid will be virtual only.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Due to last week's tropical storm — and everyone who lost power and Internet access — Middletown public school parents now have until midnight this Tuesday, Aug. 11 to let the district know if they will be keeping their child entirely home for the fall semester.
Midletown parents have until midnight on Tuesday to send back this form: MTPS Full-Time Remote Virtual Learning Request Form. If a form is not submitted by midnight on Aug. 11, students will be scheduled for in-person on campus instruction.
In the video below, Middletown schools superintendent Dr. Bill George talks to student Sophia Haber Brock about how school will look this fall.

Middletown's plan right now is half remote classes, half in person: Students will be split into two groups, based on their last names. Cohort A will be students with last names from A-K and they will attend in-person on campus on Mondays and Tuesdays. Cohort B will be students with last names from L-Z and they will attend in-person on campus instruction on Thursdays and Fridays.
Wednesdays will be a remote virtual school day for all students, except for special education and other exceptions. All teachers will be in the building Wednesday. This will be the plan at all schools in the district.

Watch Dr. George go over the reopening plan with the Middletown student:
"We would all like nothing more than to be full, in-place instruction at the start of the school year. But unfortunately, we are not able to fully return to school with all students," said George. "As long as everything remains constant, we can start to build to where we can get to a full, in-place instruction for all students. I know that's where our students and staff want to be, certainly our parents want that."
