Middletown Teen Honored By The Rockettes

The Rockettes honored local Middletown teen Amy Maggipinto, 15.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Were you at Suzi's Sweet Shoppe on Hwy. 35 last week? The Rockettes were!

The Rockettes honored local Middletown teen Amy Maggipinto, 15. Amy is a leukemia survivor, and she also has a form of dwarfism. In 2015, Amy was diagnosed with stage-four cancer, but, incredibly, she beat the disease. Even though she no longer has to go to the hospital, she now makes “sunshine packages” for local kids in hospitals, filled with toiletries and activities to brighten their days. Amy was selected for her selflessness and for her devotion to helping others.

"She's just always been a people person," Amy's mom, Cathy Maggipinto, told the Asbury Park Press earlier this year. "We always say, you never met more people than you did through Amy — she always has a big smile on her face, and then even when she was sick, she wanted to think of other people."
