Middletown Teen Intentionally Hit Man, Drove Off, Police Say

Breaking: Police say that a Middletown teen intentionally struck a man with his car in Middletown Thursday morning, and then fled the scene.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Police say that a Middletown teen intentionally struck a Florida man with his car in Middletown Thursday morning, and then fled the scene.

The teen, 19, and the man, 62, know each other, Middletown police said, and the teen has since been arrested. The man was not seriously injured, but he was taken to Riverview.

It happened at 9:27 a.m. today, April 25: Middletown police responded to the area of 300 Harmony Road, near the intersection of Kearney Drive, for a report of a male pedestrian that was struck by a motor vehicle. Police say that Christopher Lamalfa, 19, of Middletown, intentionally struck the 62-year-old man with his car and then drove from the scene.

The man sustained minor injuries and was transported to Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. The victim and the suspect know each other and the teen was apprehended by police a short time later. He was arrested.

This is an active investigation and charges are pending, said Det. Lt. Paul Bailey of the Middletown police.
