Middletown Will Hold Its 9/11 Service At 7 P.M. Friday

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — A large crowd is expected Friday evening as Middletown mourns the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11 with a ceremony.

The service will be held at 7 p.m. at the Middletown World Trade Center Memorial Gardens, located next to the Middletown Arts Center (36 Church Street).

All are welcome to attend.

The service will bring together 9/11 families, community members, first responders, veterans and local officials to honor the 37 Middletown residents killed on September 11, 2001, as well as Middletown residents who later died of 9/11-related illnesses.

The Middletown train station parking lot had dozens of cars still sitting in it after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, as many of those people never came home that day.

The program will include remarks and ceremonial tributes reaffirming Middletown’s promise to never forget.

General parking will be available in the main lot at the Middletown train station. Police officers will be on hand to direct traffic and assist pedestrians crossing Church Street.

The service will be held rain or shine.
