Middletown Woman, 18, Killed In Parkway Crash Monday

One Middletown woman, 18, was killed and two other young women from Middletown were seriously injured in a crash at 1:30 a.m. Monday.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — An 18-year-old woman from Middletown was killed, and two other young women from Middletown seriously injured in this 1:30 a.m. crash on the Garden State Parkway Monday. The Asbury Park Press obtained the women's identities from the NJ State Police.

The woman who died was identified as Nicole Smith, 18, according to State Trooper Alejandro Goez. She was a passenger in the car.

The driver, Kimberly Franklin, 20, also of Middletown, and another passenger, Isabella Rosales, 20, also of Middletown, were seriously injured, but survived, the APP reported. Both Rosales and Smith were ejected from the Dodge Charger when it crashed around 1:30 a.m. in the area of milepost 132.4 in Colonia/Woodbridge. The crash happened on the Garden State Parkway south.

The crash involved two vehicles: The Charger rear-ended a Nissan Rogue, State Police told the APP. That impact forced the Charger off the road, striking a guardrail and a tree before flipping over, ejecting the two women.

The two injured women remain at Robert Wood Johnson in New Brunswick.
