Middletown Woman Sold Heroin While Baby Was With Her, Police Charge

A Port Monmouth woman tried to sell cocaine and heroin while she had a one-year-old baby with her last week, police said.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ - A Port Monmouth woman was found last Monday, Feb. 27 trying to sell cocaine and heroin while she had a one-year-old baby with her, according to a criminal complaint released by the Monmouth County prosecutor's office:

Karen Jarius, 37, of Port Monmouth, was found Monday trying to distribute heroin near McMahon Park and Ocean Avenue elementary school in North Middletown, police said. She also had cocaine on her, polices said. She had a one-year-old baby with her at the time, police said, and it was her legal duty to care for the child. She was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, as well as drug offenses.

The day before, Sunday, Feb. 26, Anthony Cotter, 32, of Middletown, was found with four wax folds of suspected heroin, two empty wax folds and seven hypodermic needles, police said.
