Middletown's Scott Simonson Talks Super Bowl 50
Red Bank native and Middletown South alum gets ready for Super Bowl 50.

Middletown, NJ - “I’m getting excited. I really don’t get nervous. I’m a little anxious starting the day before and I will definitely have that, but that’s a good thing because that lets me know I’m ready. I’ve felt that before every game since I was in high school. That’s just my mindset. I might be a little nervous the night before or the day of this game, but it’s more anxiousness.’’
That’s what Scott Simonson, former Middletown South player and now Carolina Panthers reserve tight end, told the Asbury Park Press as his team gets ready for Super Bowl 50 against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
Simonson, a Red Bank native, played at football powerhouse Middletown South, but he didn’t actually see much playing time until his senior year. NJ.com has the story on how he went into the NFL after attending tiny Assumption College, and how he offered to save his sister’s life when he was a child and she was battling a rare blood disease.
