Monmouth County Woman Drove While Intoxicated, Had Child In Vehicle, Cops Say

Police say a 33-year-old Aberdeen woman was intoxicated and had her 7-year-old in the vehicle when she hit a parked car.

Police say a 33-year-old Aberdeen woman was intoxicated and had her 7-year-old in the vehicle when she hit a parked car.

Aberdeen police charged Kelly A. Leslie, 33, of Edgeview Road, with endangering the welfare of a child, driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a breath test, reckless driving, and several other motor vehicle offenses.

According to a news release from Chief John T. Powers, Leslie hit a parked car in the A&P parking lot on Route 35 around 7:50 p.m. Saturday.

She left the scene, but she and her vehicle were found on Edgeview Road after witnesses followed her there, the news release said.

Officers found that she had her 7-year-old child in the vehicle at the time, police said.

She was sent to the Monmouth County jail, Freehold Township, with bail set at $50,000.

Officer Raymond Campbell handled the arrest, with help from Officer Matthew McDow.
