Monmouth Medical Center Announces June Programs

Diabetes Self-Management Series

June 2, 9 & 16; 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.

June 5, 12, 19 & 26; 5 - 7 p.m.

Fee based. Learn how to manage your diabetes by attending this four-session diabetes education program focusing on diet, nutrition, glucose monitoring, medications, meal plans, prevention and treatment of diabetes complications, dining out and benefits of exercise. The program is taught by a registered nurse and a registered dietitian/certified diabetes educator. It will be held at The Center for Diabetes Education at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. Program attendees will need a doctor’s prescription and will be billed to Medicare or your insurance carrier.

Boost Your Memory

June 7; 1 – 2 p.m.

Free. Concerned about those “senior moments?” Learn what’s normal and what’s not, as well as practical tips and doable strategies to keep your mind sharp, which may prevent or delay the onset of age-related memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease. Join Carol Palmer, BA, from Monmouth Medical Center in the SCAN classroom in the lower level of the Monmouth Mall, Routes 35 and 36, Eatontown.

Keeping Your Grandkids Safe and Happy While in Your Care

June 19; 10 a.m. – noon

Free. My, how things have changed since many of us became new parents! During

this interactive program, we will discuss the current trends and recommendations in

infant and child safety in the home, outdoors and on the road! New parents, you will

want to encourage YOUR parents to attend this important presentation. Presented

by Monmouth Medical Center and Safe Kids of Monmouth and Ocean County. This

event will take place at Monmouth Medical Center, 300 Second Avenue, Long

Branch, in the Maysie Stroock Pavilion, which is located on the corner of Second

and Pavilion Avenues in Suite A001. Refreshments will be served.

Woman to Woman: Restore, Rejuvenate & Re-Awaken!

June 19; 6:30 – 8 p.m.

Free. Explore sexuality and self-care practices after a cancer diagnosis. Co-Facilitated by Cindy Tracy, CYT, and Anita Pfisterer. This event will take place at Monmouth Medical Center 300 Second Avenue, Long Branch, in the Maysie Stroock Pavilion, which is located on the corner of Second and Pavilion Avenues in the Cancer Support Community in Suite ST-007.

Bariatric Weight-Loss Lecture

June 22; 6 – 7 p.m.

Free. Presented by Frank Borao, MD, and Steven Binenbaum, MD, board-certified, laparoscopic-fellowship-trained surgeons. For those considering a bariatric procedure, this program will offer the most up-to-date information on gastric bypass surgery, gastric banding and sleeve gastrectomy.

Medicare and You

Free. Join us to learn about different Medicare plans in this interactive workshop presented by Samantha White, SHIP of Monmouth County. A light lunch will be provided.
