The work will begin next Monday, Jan. 23 and Navesink River Road will be closed in stages:

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Starting next Monday, Jan. 23, the county will begin installing a pedestrian walkway along Navesink River Road (County Route 12A) in Middletown.
The pedestrian path will run along the northern side fronting Huber Woods Park.
Starting Monday, Navesink River Road is scheduled to be closed and detoured in two stages for approximately two weeks each:

The first two-week closure is scheduled to occur from Jan. 23 until Feb. 5, depending on utility relocations and weather conditions.
After that first full closure period, the road will be reopened to traffic in both directions but will likely require alternating lanes of traffic during working hours.

Work should continue in that fashion until it will be ready for the second two-week full closure stage, which should occur in April 2023.
The entire project is scheduled to be completed by the end of May this year, said a spokesman for Monmouth County.
“The construction of the roadway improvements will occur in three stages to avoid unnecessary delays and disruptions to the area,” said Monmouth County Commissioner Director Tom Arnone, liaison to the Public Works & Engineering Department. “We appreciate residents' and visitors’ patience as this project begins and remind all vehicular traffic to follow the arranged detours.”
