Possible Medical Waste Dumped At Middletown Park
Police remind people not to touch any needles they might find

Needles have been found in a park in Middletown, police said. Multiple unwrapped needles were found on the ground at Bill Ward Roller Hockey park in the northern portion of the town.
Police say the needles are not the type used for intravenous drugs, such as heroin.
"We believe that [the needles] were used medical waste, that was discarded. The needles from what we can see are for intramuscular medication, so not something you would use for intravenous drugs," Detective Lieutenant Paul Bailey told Patch.

Bailey told Patch he wasn't sure how medical waste could have wound up in a residential park, saying, "I wasn't ware of anything until I saw a picture on Facebook."

According to police, the needles were removed from the park before 1:00 PM.
Anybody who finds needles should not touch them, Bailey said, "Contact the police. In either way, because you wouldn't want to be touching it if it was drugs, or if it was a biohazard, so in either case, we don't recommend an individual handing syringes."
