MIDDLETOWN, NJ — D1 Training, a new gym located at 1519 Rt. 35 in Middletown, is scheduled to open April 1.

D1 is more than just a gym: It was founded in 2001 by former NFL player Will Bartholomew and existing franchisee owners include Super Bowl MVP Von Miller, Tim Tebow and Michael Oher.

The Middletown location is not owned by former NFL players, but instead by the husband-wife team of Ed and Christine Hazel.

The owners of D1 say it's a fitness concept that uses the five core tenets used by professional athletes: A dynamic warm-up, performance, strength, core and conditioning and cool down. But the gym also has certified trainers on staff to help people of all ages and abilities —even kids, as they have training programs for children as young as 7.

The Middletown location will offer two specials that will last the whole month of April:
