Obituary: Dennis J. Simpson, 70, of Leonardo

Married 51 years, Simpson was Elder Emeritus at Middletown Assembly of God.


Dennis J. Simpson of Leonardo died at the age of 70 on May 18, with his loving family by his side. 

He was born in Newark and lived there before moving to Leonardo. There he and his wife Diana spent their years raising their family. The love of his family and many good friends was the center of his world. 

He was a dispatcher employed by Mystic Tank Lines in Matawan.

He was predeceased by his mother and father, Helen and Edgar Simpson.

Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 51 years Diana Simpson, his loving children Dennis C. and his wife Linda Simpson; Darlene and her husband Rick Nolan; Denise and her husband Alan Smullen; and Dawn Blozen.

His cherished grandchildren Anne, Anthony, Brian, Ciara, Dennis, Alison, Christopher, Patrick, Justin, and Lauren also survive.

Surviving as well are his brother Richard and his wife Kathy Simpson and his sister Patricia Kalips and her husband Frank. Sisters-in law Gloria Skripko and Sheila Lawson and her husband Roy and many nieces and nephews also survive. 

Cremation services were private and under the cirection of the John P. Condon Funeral Home, Leonardo.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate his life will be held Tuesday June 4th at 7:00 pm at Middletown Assembly of God at 628 Palmer Ave in North Middletown, where Simpson served as elder emeritus to his church family and touched many lives.

A visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. at the church prior to the memorial.
