Obituary: Maureen Crane Balland Appaneal, 61, Middletown Florist

She was co-owner of Harmony Florist for 30 years.

Maureen Crane Balland Appaneal, 61, of Middletown, died on March 16, 2013 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, East Brunswick. She was born in Newark, NJ and lived in Middletown for 50 years. Maureen, with her husband, owned Harmony Florist for 30 years in Middletown. 

Surviving are her loving husband John Appaneal; 2 sons, Robert and his wife Fran Balland of Wilmington, NC; Scott Balland of Middletown; 3 sisters, Colleen and John Winters of Fair Haven; Karen and Walter Thompson of Belford; and Kathleen Brogan of Middletown; 3 brothers, John and his wife Robin Crane and their 3 children of Whiting; Kevin Crane and his partner Ira, of Philadelphia, PA; Daniel Crane of Toms River; 2 grandsons, Jack and Bryan Balland of Wilmington, NC; as well as a grandaughter, Riley Balland of Wilmington, NC.

Maureen was preceded in death by her daughter, Kelly Balland; her stepson, Stuart Appaneal; parents, John and Katherine Crane; brother, Thomas Crane; sister, Eileen O'Leary; niece, Tara O'Leary; and her nephew, Michael O'Leary.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, from 2 to 4 pm & 7- 9 pm at the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, 8:15 am at the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Wednesday at 9:15 am at St. Mary's Chapel, 26 Leonardville Rd., Middletown. Burial will follow at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
