Obituary: Salvatore Laura, 89, of Middletown

Former Inspector for the NYC Dept. of Community Affairs.

Salvatore Laura, 89, of Middletown, passed away Monday, January 7 at his home. He was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1923. Salvatore worked as an Inspector for the  Department of Consumer Affairs in New York City. He was many things to many people.  He was an award winning artist, a wonderful cook, a music lover.  He could play any instrument beautifully despite having no music lessons.  He loved photography, boating, and his model trains.

Surviving are his daughter, Lorraine Laura of Middletown; his three granddaughters, Kim and her husband Eddie Santiago of Oakhurst, Kristie and her husband Joey Curiazza of Middletown, and Kortney Kane of Middletown; his great-grandson, Kole; and his two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Marie Laura of Marlboro, and Joseph and Anne Laura of Freehold.

Salvatore was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Theresa Laura in 1983, his parents, Joseph and Grace Laura, and his daughter, Diane Benson.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 10 from 2 to 4pm and from 7 to 9 pm at the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, January 11 at 8 am at the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Friday, January 11 at 9:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, Bridge Ave., Red Bank. Burial will follow at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
