October Speaker Event From Middletown Historical Society

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — The Middletown Twp. Historical Society presents its October speaker series event:

Independent historian and author Brian Armstrong will present on the history of the deadly Spanish Influenza of 1918-1920, which caused somewhere between 25 and 100 million deaths worldwide and 675,000 deaths in the U.S. The presentation will include an overview of the three phases of the epidemic, the effect of the disease on the New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania area, how the search for a cure changed the U.S. healthcare system, and an evaluation of the risk for a future pandemic.

The lecture will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 15 at the Poricy Park Nature Center at 345 Oak Hill Road in Middletown (Red Bank mailing address). All are welcome.
