Person Killed In Hwy. 36 Crash In Middletown Thursday

Breaking: There was a fatal crash just before noon today on Hwy. 36 near the Guttenplan's dough factory in North Middletown.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Someone was killed just before noon Thursday, May 17, in a single-car accident on Highway 36 in Middletown, police said.

At approximately 11:55 a.m. today, Middletown Twp. police responded to Rt. 36 for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, officers found that a single car struck a utility pole.

The crash occurred in the northbound lanes of the highway in the area of Royal Court, near the Guttenplan's frozen dough factory.

The driver was the only person in the car, and sustained fatal injuries, police said. Middletown police said they are not releasing the identity of the driver at this time, or what town they are from.
