Port Monmouth House Fire Wednesday Night
At 5:55 p.m. Wednesday, the Middletown Fire Department responded to a 911 call from a neighbor on Wilson Avenue.

PORT MONMOUTH, NJ — A fire broke out Wednesday evening on Wilson Avenue in the Port Monmouth section of Middetown, according to the Township's all-volunteer fire department.
At 5:55 p.m. Wednesday, the Middletown Township Fire Department responded to a 911 call from a neighbor reporting smoke coming out of an occupied house on Wilson Avenue, pictured above.
Firefighters searched the house and confirmed that all residents in fact had evacuated the structure. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Middletown Township Fire Marshal’s office, under the direction of Fire Marshal Edward Skelly.

Deputy Chief Bernie Chenoweth called for additional firefighters and, as is protocol, used thermal imaging cameras to ensure all the fire was found and extinguished.
The home's utilities were secured by New Jersey Natural Gas, Jersey Central Power and Light and New Jersey American Water.

The fire was declared under control by Chief Chenoweth at 6:13 p.m. Approximately 42 firefighters from five companies of the Middletown Township Fire Department responded to the call from Belford Engine, Community, East Keansburg, Port Monmouth and Belford Independent Fire Companies. The MTFD Air Unit, Safety Unit were also requested.
No firefighter injuries were reported.
