President Biden Will Attend Fundraiser At Murphy's Middletown Home

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — President Joe Biden will be in New Jersey Thursday night, where he will appear at a private fundraiser hosted by Gov. Phil Murphy at his home in Middletown, Patch has confirmed.

This is a private fundraiser at Murphy's estate on the Navesink River in Middletown; it has not been publicized who will be attending. The fundraiser is to help Democrats across the nation ahead of the midterm elections on Nov. 8.

The money raised Thursday night will go to the Democratic National Committee’s Grassroots Victory Fund, reported NJ.com.

Before he became governor, Murphy made millions working for Goldman Sachs on Wall Street, and he is a longtime Democratic fundraiser and donor to Democratic campaigns. He was a hefty donor to Barack Obama's presidential campaigns. In turn, once Obama won the presidency, he named Murphy as ambassador to Germany. Murphy is also chairman of the Democratic Governors Association and National Governors Association, two high-publicity posts.

Murphy and Biden strongly support each other, and have campaigned for each other many times in the past. First Lady Jill Biden campaigned at a rally in Edison last October to re-elect Murphy.

However, at the time same Murphy has been floated as a strong potential candidate for the 2024 Democratic nomination for president, should Biden decide not to run again for president.
