Raccoon With Rabies Found In Middletown

The incident occurred in the area of Sears Avenue, located in the Atlantic Highlands area of the Township.

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ — A raccoon with rabies was found last week in the Atlantic Highlands area, the Middletown Health Dept. announced Thursday.

The raccoon had contact with a dog last Friday, Aug. 18. Fortunately, the dog was currently vaccinated against rabies, the Health Dept. said. The incident occurred in the area of Sears Avenue, located in the Atlantic Highlands area of the Township.

The raccoon's carcass was sent to a state lab and the results came back Thursday that it was indeed rabid.
