Register For Seal-Watching Hikes On Sandy Hook, Plus A New Year's Day Hike

Here are all the dates January - March for guided seal-watching hikes on Sandy Hook. Great for kids, teens and adults.

SANDY HOOK — If you're looking for ways to bundle up and enjoy this frigid weather, the American Littoral Society will host several guided walks on Sandy Hook.

The first is a guided group stroll on Jan. 1, New Year's Day:

  • 50th Anniversary New Years Day Walk: Join us for a walk along the beach to ring in the new year.

Ring in the New Year with the American Littoral Society by joining us for brisk walks in New York and New Jersey. We will also celebrate 50 years of friends and supporters making this trek with us.

Our pinniped (seal) friends are back in town. If you'd like to learn more about them and our winter waterfowl friends, join the Littoral Society for walks on Sandy Hook, NJ starting in January. Find more info and register on their website.

Upcoming Seal and Winter Waterfowl Walks 2026. All the walks are $20 per person for non-members; $10 for members.

Learn about harbor seals and our local winter waterfowl. Participants will explore coastal habitats, spot species such as harbor seals, gannets, mergansers and cormorants, and learn about their behaviors and identifying features.
