Five fourth graders from River Plaza Elementary were honored last night at Monmouth University by “Celebrate New Jersey.” The students are from Mrs. Lynda Hayden's class, and Mrs. Jackie Scotto's class. "Celebrate New Jersey" is an organization that offers an annual writing contest to inspire pride and appreciation for New Jersey. Fourth-graders in the state research and write articles of their choosing about New Jersey arts, business, people, science, sports, health and wellness, or travel. Articles are selected for publication in the New Jersey Scoop, an online newspaper.
The contest is open to all fourth-graders in New Jersey. Fourth-grade teachers who participate are allowed to submit up to six essays. Winners are then selected in each region by a panel of judges at "Celebrate New Jersey." Congratulations to the five winners and their teachers from River Plaza Elementary!
