Runners Wanted for Third Annual 5K Rook Run Supporting Non-Profit The Valerie Fund
ASPIRE Fitness Is Building A Team & Inviting The Public For The 3rd Annual 5K Rook Run Supporting Non-Profit Organization The Valerie Fund

ASPIRE Fitness is participating in the Third Annual 5K Rook Run hosted by Rook Coffee and is inviting members of the public to join Team ASPIRE. Membership in ASPIRE Fitness is NOT necessary to join the team. The run is scheduled for Sunday, September 25 and will be held on the grounds of The Great Lawn on the Long Branch Boardwalk, 10 Ocean Avenue, Long Branch, New Jersey, between Cooper Avenue and Madison Avenue. The event benefits The Valerie Fund, which operates The Valerie Fund Children’s Center at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. The Valerie Fund is a non-profit organization which provides support and care for children with cancer and blood disorders. Last year’s run raised more than $180,000 with 2,400 runners.
ASPIRE Fitness is currently in first place in terms of fundraising and has a team of 54 members to date. Anyone who wants to join the team will be given a free team t-shirt and is also welcome to participate in the free team running clinics held each Saturday to prepare for the race. The running clinics are led by RRCA Running Coach Robin Campbell. Water and bananas are provided at the end of the clinic. The next running clinic will be held on Saturday, September 17 at 8 a.m. at the start of the Henry Hudson Trail in Aberdeen, N.J. Topics covered in the running clinic are basic techniques, stamina/endurance, running form, and breathing. The training run is 3 to 4 miles and is designed to be a fun, team-building activity with no pressure. Brian Bott, owner of ASPIRE Fitness, wants to encourage the public to get involved. “Fitness should spiral outward and help people in other areas of their lives. As a business and as part of Team ASPIRE, I certainly support what Rook Coffee is doing and am happy to be involved in such a great cause,” Bott said. Individuals interested in participating in the run as a member of Team ASPIRE should contact the gym at (732) 303-1416.
