Severe Thunderstorm Warning In Effect For Monmouth, Mercer, Middlesex

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Monmouth, Middlesex and Mercer counties after a strong thunderstorm was seen on radar, the National Weather Service said.

The storm was seen about 20 miles in Mercer County and near Holmdel and was moving northeast at 25 mph, the weather service said.

The storm includes penny-sized hail and wind gusts of up to 60 mph, forecasters said.

"Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm and may lead to flash flooding," the warning said.

Take precautions and do not drive through flooded roads, officials said.
