Sheriff's Officers Injured During Arrest in Middletown
An alleged struggle between Edwin Velez and two county officers results in injuries, charges.

Two Monmouth County Sheriff's Officers were reportedly injured when they tried to serve a warrant to a Middletown man.
Edwin Velez, 36, of Cherry Tree Farm Road in Middletown is charged with resisting arrest, committing aggravated assault on uniformed Sheriff's Dept. Officers Gordon Holder and Thomas Smith. During the alleged struggle Velez is accused of striking Holder's hand and arm and causing Smith back and shoulder pain.
Velez was released from county jail after posting $80,000 bail set by Judge Linda Grasso-Jones, and has a Nov. 26 court date, according to a complaint warrant from the county.
