Port Monmouth Elementary Stomps Out Bullying

Students and teachers got together and created a peace sign last week to represent Port Monmouth's stand against bullying.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Here is a photo from an anti-bullying event held last week at Port Monmouth elementary school. Students and teachers got together and created a peace sign to represent Port Monmouth's stand against bullying.

This is Port Monmouth's third annual anti-bullying event. Students take a pledge every year to be an upstander, to fight for what is right and to celebrate differences. The entire event is coordinated by fifth-grade teacher Gabriella Kolodziej. Port Monmoth's principal is Maureen McCormack, school counselor is Kristie Kane-Tapolow and Richard Kolodziej operated the drone that took this photo.

"Since doing the anti-bullying event, students have been more proactive in sharing with staff if they have seen or heard something (involving possible bullying)," teacher Kane-Tapolow told Patch.
