Teen Boy, 15, Missing In South Jersey

KEANSBURG, NJ — Keansburg Police posted this missing child alert at about 1 p.m. Friday:

Jonah Melendez, a 15-year-old male, has been missing since March 1.

The teen boy was last seen by his parents at 10:15 p.m. on March 1 at their family home in Keansburg. His parents left him home alone that night and went out. When they returned a few hours later, he was gone.

They reported him missing to Keansburg Police when they got home that night and found he was not in the home. He was technically reported missing on March 2.

His parents say they think he ran away from home after being punished. They said the teen boy does not have his own cell phone, and did not take a cell phone or appear to have taken any money.

He is known to have friends in Sayreville and the Bronx. He is still missing as of March 18, said Keansburg Police. His parents have not heard from him since March 1 and it is now March 18.
