Thorne Middle School Goes Pink

Thorne Middle School Goes Pink

The 1st annual "Cancer Out" turned Thorne Middle School pink! On Friday, October 14th, 2016 over 850 students, faculty and staff wore pink and made a gigantic pink ribbon to increase awareness of the fight against Breast Cancer. The students participated in a fundraiser for Breast Intentions, a local organization that provides relief to patients currently going through cancer treatment. Thorne raised over $380 dollars !! The organizer of this event, Christine Giordano said, "I am so proud to be part of Thorne Middle School. This has been about our school as a community and starting an annual tradition where we can help other. It was amazing to hear the students buzzing in the hallway all week about wearing pink and buying a bracelet to support this fundraiser. With such great results during the 1st Annual Cancer Out, I can only imagine that next year will be even better. The sky's the limit at Thorne Middle School. I could not have pulled this off without help from Marie Knouse, Margaret Mulcahey as well as others on staff at the school". This was an amazing experience for all involved!”
