Tiki Barber At The Middletown ShopRite This Sunday, Sept. 30
If you want to donate some of your hair to Locks of Love, you can also do that Sunday at a special event outside the grocery store.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — This Sunday, Sept. 30, former NFL running back, NY Giants star and CBS sports commentator Tiki Barber will make an appearance at the Middletown ShopRite on Rt. 35 at Harmony Road. If you want to donate some of your hair to Locks of Love, you can also do that this Sunday at a special event outside the grocery store. Those who donate their hair can meet Barber and take photos with him.
Barber is working as a campaign ambassador for Pantene for their Care Beyond Hair Tour, which donates hair and raises money for Locks of Love to provide custom-made hairpieces for children suffering from long-term hair loss.
From Sept. 30 through Nov. 18, the Care Beyond Hair Tour will make stops at 40 ShopRite stores in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, offering people the chance to donate their locks to help children in need.

Barber, who has talked in the past about his mother’s battle with breast cancer, will be at the Middletown ShopRite from noon to 1 p.m. and meet with people who take a break from shopping to get a haircut. If you want to donate your hair, donations and haircuts will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at a pop-up styling station located outside the store.

More pop-up styling stations will appear at New Jersey ShopRite stores over the next two months as part of the Care Beyond Hair Tour. Each in-store station will feature an on-site person to cut hair – Locks of Love typically needs about 10 inches of hair for each cut – and donated hair will be used to create real-hair wigs and pieces for children who have lost hair due to treatments for cancer and other medical-related conditions. For every hair donation, Pantene will also pledge an additional $50 to Locks of Love, up to $11,000.

"We are proud to participate in a great event like this to benefit Locks of Love and the wonderful work they do in making lives better for children," said Rick Saker, Senior Vice President of Saker ShopRites.
Locks of Love provides free hair prostheses to children suffering from long-term medical hair loss and whose families can’t afford to purchase a wig or hairpiece. Nearly two million children in the U.S. suffer from alopecia areata, an autoimmune disorder that causes hair loss. Radiation treatment for brain tumors can also cause permanent hair loss in children. The custom-made, real hairpieces provided by Locks of Love can be worn even while swimming or in the shower.
"Locks of Love restores some normalcy to children’s lives and gives them confidence to help fight tough medical-related conditions," said Cathy Magistrelli, Vice President of Health and Beauty Care for ShopRite.
