Tony Perry Expected To Be Named Middletown Mayor For 5th Term
This Sunday, Tony Perry is expected to be named to his fifth term as the mayor of Middletown. Rick Hibell will again be named deputy mayor.
MIDDLETOWN, NJ — This Sunday, Tony Perry is expected to be named to his fifth term as the mayor of Middletown.
Rick Hibell will again be named as deputy mayor.
Perry and Hibell will be formally sworn in at the town's annual reorganization meeting this Sunday, Jan. 1 New Year's Day at 12 p.m.

This is noteworthy because Middletown is the largest town in Monmouth County and considered a Republican political stronghold. Perry and Hibell are both Republicans, as all are elected members of Middletown's Township Committee.
This will be Perry's fifth consecutive year as mayor and Hibell's third consecutive year as deputy mayor. Perry was elected to the Middletown Twp. Committee in 2017 and served as mayor in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

The swearing-in will be held in the courtroom at Town Hall on Kings Highway. Hibell and Kevin Settembrino, both re-elected by Middletown residents this past fall, will also be sworn in to three-year terms.
Under Middletown Township's form of government, the Township Committee chooses two members to serve as mayor and deputy mayor for a one-year term.
