“We’ve been looking for a home like this, really, since we got started in 2016,” co-owner Will Grundmann told the APP. “We tried to go into Highlands, we’re from that area, we’re named after the lighthouse in Highlands. We tried finding a property out in Highlands — unfortunately it just wasn’t in the cards for us.”

Monmouth County and all of New Jersey is seeing a microbrewery explosion in the past few years, but it's worth reading this article about the new microbrewery regulations handed down from the state of New Jersey this July, which brewery owners say will drive them out of business: https://reason.com/2022/07/23/...

  • In addition to Netflix opening a film studio at Fort Monmouth, a new brewery called Birdsmouth Beer is supposed to open on the base sometime this fall, at 675 Oceanport Way in Oceanport. The brewery will open in what is known as "The Commissary," or what used to be the on-base grocery store. More food and drink businesses will be coming next to the brewery, all as-of-yet unrevealed. Birdsmouth bills itself as "Jersey's all-lager craft brewery" and is headed by co-founder Andrew Gioia, the former head brewer at Kane Brewing in Ocean Township. • Alternate Ending opened at the old Bow Tie movie theater in Aberdeen at the end of 2020. They have a full-service kitchen and serve food and pizza on wooden picnic tables inside and outside the brewery. Alternate Ending is owned by self-professed "beer nerd" Scott Novick, 39, who grew up in Morganville and actually got his start brewing beer in his backyard.
