Unconscious Worker Rescued From Basement Of Middletown Home
A construction worker who passed out and became unconscious had to be rescued from a crawl space in Lincroft Monday.
MIDDLETOWN, NJ — A construction worker who passed out and became unconscious had to be rescued from a crawl space thirty feet inside the basement of a Middletown home Monday.
The dramatic incident was reported by the all-volunteer Middletown fire department, who were called in to save the man. The man did not pass out due to poor air quality or lack of oxygen, said a spokesman for the fire department. He may have suffered a medical episode while on the job, but that was unconfirmed.
The 911 call came in at 2:33 p.m. Monday to rescue an unconscious worker who was thirty feet inside the home’s basement crawlspace at 58 Greentree Terrace in the Lincroft section of Middletown, said Dennis Fowler, the fire department spokesman.

Middletown police, fire and MONOC EMS all arrived on scene, assessed the situation and developed a plan to remove the worker. Using tools from the Tower Ladder, the man was transferred into a stokes basket and pulled from the confined space. Once out of the crawl space, he was treated on scene by paramedics.
The Middletown fire dept. tested the air inside the basement and crawl space, and air quality tests came back fine, said Fowler.
