Vigil Against Drug Overdose Thurs. Night In Highlands
Come to the Highlands Rec Center from 6:30 - 9 p.m. Thursday. Bring a candle to light in honor of a loved one affected by drug overdose.

HIGHLANDS, NJ — Thursday, Aug. 31 is International Overdose Awareness Day and Highlands/Atlantic Highlands is holding a community gathering this evening to call attention to the drug overdose problem in the Bayshore area.
This will be the first annual Fed Up Rally in Highlands, NJ. All are invited to come from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday to the Highlands Recreation Center at 171 Bay Avenue. Bring a candle to light in honor of a loved one who has passed away or is in active recovery. As each candle is lit, your loved one's name will be announced. After each candle is lit, they will walk down to the beach for a moment of silence and a closing statement.

This is a free, family-friendly event that is open to the public. It's an evening filled with education, awareness, hope and remembrance. We as a community stand united to stop overdose death and bring awareness to substance use. This problem is not going away, it's getting worse and we must start talking about it. We hope to see you there.
