Free programs at the Middletown Township Public Library

New area in the Children’s Room: Leap Into Literacy. Board books for the very young listeners are on the two lowest shelves. Ready to Read books (Levels A-E and LB) are on the top shelf and in baskets on top of the bookcase. Couches and large armchairs are available for parents to sit beside early readers and to hold toddlers on their laps.

NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS, a peer-led volunteer local job search support and networking group, meets on Monday, February 25th @ 7:00 pm.

Murder Mystery Theater: On the maiden voyage of the S.S. Zorg, travelling from the Milky Way to the Andromeda galaxy people are getting ill. Someone has poisoned the water with a unknown parasitic alien that turns people into raving lunatics. Who poisoned the water? Who is infected with the parasite? Solve these mysteries before time runs out and the entire ship is doomed to drift forever in the blackness of space! For grades 6+. Wednesday, February 27th @ 7:00 pm.

HYGGE Hangout: Hygge (pronounced hue-gah) is Danish for cozy, warm or homey. It is a national pastime in Denmark expressed in homespun pleasures involving candlelight, knitted socks, coffee, cake, family, and friends. It’s a good way to cope with long, dark winters. Join us as we transport our cafe area to a space where we can create, play and enjoy the moment with the Hygge spirit. Wear your comfy clothes and bring your favorite pillow and/or blanket. Learn how to finger knit, make a gnome, play games or puzzles or just cozy up by the fire and read. For ages 2-6. Monday, February 25th @ 4:00 pm.

Gymboree for Toddlers: A gym class for toddlers who are 16 months to 3 year-olds to help walkers further develop gross motor skills. Children must be able to walk in order to participate. For ages 16-36 months with parent. Tuesday, February 26th @ 10:30 am.

Gymboree for Crawlers: Provides opportunities for adults and babies to play together. Adults are expected to stay and participate through the entire class. For ages 6-16 months with parent. Tuesday, February 26th @ 11:10 am.

Reading Buddies: Each child will be paired with a teen Reading Buddy to practice reading skills by reading out loud. Register for one of the time slots. Wednesday, February 27th, Thursday, February 28th.

ScienceStarts – Human Energy: For Grades PreK – 1 with an adult. Hands on science activities and reading aloud. Wednesday, February 27th @ 4:00 pm.
