Free programs at the Middletown Township Public Library

Library is closed Sunday, May 28th and Monday, May 29th.

IN THE MTPL GALLERY: Prolific Red Bank painter Alexander John Goldenberg found strength and focus to create vibrant art during his final months living this caner. An exhibit of his work will celebrate his life. June 1-24th. Public reception Saturday, June 24th, noon-1:30 pm.

#ADULTING: Financial Literacy for Young Adults ages 16-24. Presented by Wells Fargo. Topics will include obtaining and maintaining good credit, banking, investments and more. Register online @ mtpl.org. Tuesday, May 30th @ 7:00 pm.

Introduction to Excel: Learn the basics - columns vs. rows, creating sheets and tabs, how to enter and edit data, incorporate formulas, and create charts. Thursday, June 1st @ 3:30 pm.

BCUG Word: Discuss your Word problems with the experts. This is a drop-in discussion group for advanced users, not a class. Thursday, June 1st @ 6:30 pm.

Math Tutoring: Free tutoring sessions at the library in the Children’s Quiet Reading Area. Bring textbook and/or homework. Tutoring sessions are for 30 minutes and are scheduled at 3:30 pm, 4:00 pm, and 4:30 pm. Upon registering, you will receive an email with your tutoring session time. Tutors are volunteer high school honors students. Tutoring for Calculus and above is not available. Tuesday, May 30th.

Card Making: To celebrate the first day of our summer reading program sign-up, “Build a Better World”, we will have a card making station in the Community Room. Brighten someone’s day by sharing a positive message or nice drawing on the cards which we will deliver to a local senior citizen facility. For all ages. Thursday, June 1st @ 3:45 pm.

Physics Study Group: Study for tests, bring your homework, and ask any questions you may have. Work together to improve your Physics skills. Thursday, June 1st @ 4:30 pm.

Chess: If you haven’t played before, we will teach you. Planning, confidence, patience and discipline are all benefits of playing chess. We just think it’s fun. No registration required. Friday, June 2nd @ 3:30 pm.

Kids Playgroup: A playgroup that encourages children to explore hands-on activities and develop social skills. Grown-ups can chat and connect with other parents/caregivers while supervising their children’s play. A Drop-In program for all ages. Final session Tuesday, May 30th @ 10:30 am.

Hop On Over for Reading Bunnies: Practice reading skills with one of our 4-H bunnies. It’s a great way to encourage reading by providing a non-judgmental listener in our fluffy friends. Children will read to a bunny for five minutes. For independent readers only, grades K-5. There will be teen reading buddies for younger siblings as well as for the K-5 set to practice with prior to their “bunny time”. Thursday, June 1st @ 4:30 pm.

Lapsit Storytime for Pre-walkers: Introduce your infant to the library during this gentle lapsit program for pre-walkers accompanied by an adult. Rhymes, songs, puppets, and picture books encourage language development. Adults get to socialize and infants get used to be around other infants. For ages up to 32 months. Friday, June 2nd @ 10:00 am.

Reading Buddies: Children will be paired with a buddy to practice their reading skills by reading out loud. Studies show reading for about 20 minutes each day will improve children’s skills, especially if they read to someone! For ages 3-9. Saturday, June 3rd @ 2:00 pm.
