Brookdale Read Book Discussion; led by Prof. Jane Denny, will discuss Julie Otsuka’s book, When the Emperor Was Divine, an historical fiction novel about a Japanese American family sent to an internment camp in the Utah desert during World War II.

MOVIE MONDAYS begins its month-long Gene Wilder Celebration with Young Frankenstein . November 7th @ 2:30 pm.

Songs and Letters of World War II, presented by Traveling Literary Theater. Three professional actors share personal letters, quotes and accounts of war. Cabaret singer Maggie Worsdale performs songs from the era. Saturday, November 12th @ 2:00 pm.

Lapsit Storytime for Prewalkers: Introduce your baby to the library during this gentle lapsit program for pre-walkers accompanied by a grown-up. Rhymes, songs, puppets, and picture books encourage language development. Grown-ups get to socialize with other adults and babies get used to be around other babies. For ages up to 32 months. Monday, November 7th @ 10:00 am.

Kids Playgroup: A playgroup that encourages children to explore hands-on activities and develop social skills. Grown-ups can chat and connect with other parents/caregivers while supervising their children’s play. A Drop-In program for all ages. Tuesday, November 8th @ 10:30 am.

Birds, Beaks and Bills presented by Wild Birds Unlimited. Learn about the different types of bird beaks. Make your own beak mask to take home. For grades K-5. Tuesday, November 8th @ 11:00 am.

Read to a Dog and Reading Buddies: a great way to improve the literacy skills of children by enabling them to read to a non-judgmental furry friend. There will be teen reading buddies for younger siblings as well as for the K-5 set to practice with prior to their “dog time”. For independent readers only, grades K-5. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow presented by Miss Kitty. Katrina Van Tassle reveals the secret adventure of Ichabod Crane. Hobgoblins abound, skeletons high-step in a graveyard dance and even Rip Van Winkle makes an appearance in this spooky, but not scary, Halloween tale. For ages 5+. Wednesday, November 9th @ 3:00 pm.

Flow Circus- Read Yourself Silly: Paul Miller of Flow Circus is back again! Paul tells the story of how a trip to the circus led him on an adventure filled with juggling, magic, and balloon sculpting. In the end, he learns that amazing journeys begin not at the circus, but at the library. For ages 5+. Friday, November 11th @ 1:30 pm.

Reading Buddies: A child learning how to read or struggling with reading is paired with a Reading Buddy! The child chooses a book and reads aloud to their Buddy. Reading Buddies who will help with correct pronunciation, increasing vocabulary, and understanding. what they have read. Upon registration you will be contacted to determine an appointment time at 2:00 , 2:30, 3:00, or 3:30 pm. For ages 3-12. Saturday, November 12th.
