National Novel Writing Month. Your goal: Write an entire novel in one month! Come to the library to work on your novel. We will have writing prompts and a creative atmosphere to get your ideas flowing! Wednesday, November 12th at 3:45 pm.
Manga Club. Discuss manga and anime with other teens. Each meeting we will also watch several anime episodes. Friday, November 14th at 3:30 pm.
Practice ACT Test. Teens are invited to our free practice ACT test in preparation for the real test. This practice test, proctored by Kaplan Testing Centers, will allow students to see the type of questions the ACT covers and the time frame of each section. American Red Cross Club. The group meets to discuss future projects and events, disaster training, and other Red Cross related activities. Service and leadership hours will be available to all who decide to participate. Saturday, November 15th at 1:00 pm.

Sunday November 9th through Saturday, November 15th – all day. Drop-In Activities: Tear & Serve Alien Feast, Cookie’s Poll Place, Sorting shapes, Veterans Day activity puzzles and coloring sheets, Make & Take Thanksgiving Craft.
Math Tutoring. Come to the Children’s Room to get extra help with math homework from Middletown High School North High Honors students. No registration required; first come-first served. Sunday, November 9th at 3:00 pm.
Mother Goose is an early language, literacy, and social experience for infants and toddlers with their parents/caregivers. Children will sit on their grown-ups’ laps to share songs and rhymes, and participate in a brief book sharing experience. Afterwards, we will have a social time with toys and books. This first group experience provides infants and toddlers with an opportunity to learn to enjoy being with other children and to participate in parallel play. For ages up to 23 months. Monday, November 10th at 10:00 am.
Crazy 8s Math Club. This program, led by Ms. Hilary Bennett, uses manipulatives based upon a different theme each week. The program will run each week for eight weeks (if interest warrants) but each class will require separate registration. For grades 3-5. Tuesday, November 11th at 4:00 pm.
Read to a Dog is a great way to improve the literacy skills of children by providing a non-judgmental listener in our furry friends. Children will read to a dog for five minutes. This program is for independent readers only. For grades K-5. Tuesday, November 11th at 7:00 pm.
Dress for Mess: My First Cooking Class. Does your child love to play house or restaurant? Does he or she beg to “help” cook? This early cooking class for preschoolers and kindergartners offers a safe experience (no sharp knives, no heat) making food you can really eat. For ages 2-6. Wednesday, November 12th at 4:00 pm.
Drop-In LEGO Building Session. We will have our LEGOs out for free-play in our quiet reading area. Parents bringing younger siblings need to be vigilant with their little ones to prevent choking. No registration is required. For ages 5+. Wednesday, November 12th at 6:30 pm.
Simply Storytime. The return of an old favorite...Simply Storytime! As the name suggests, we will gather in the Children’s Program Room for some storytime fun! This family program, for all ages, will be offered throughout November at various times to accommodate all families. Check the CALENDAR on our website for dates. For all ages. Thursday, November 13th at 10:00 am.
SCRABBLE with Kids. Play each week in the Children’s Quiet Reading Area. Teens will teach you to play if you have never played before. For ages 6+. No registration necessary; this is a drop-in program. Thursday, November 13th at 3:30 pm.
Kids’ Playgroup. Caregivers can chat and explore hands-on activities with their children while learning about the importance of play in the quiet reading area. Friday, November 14th at 10:30 am.
Chess For Kids. Learn to play chess from other kids and teens. Planning, confidence, patience and discipline are all benefits of playing chess. We just think it’s fun! No registration required. For ages 6+. Friday, November 14th at 3:30 pm.
Tutoring for Kids. Come to our drop-in tutoring program to keep up or help with your school work. Team up with a Biotech High School student to help you with any subject you like (or don’t like!) No registration required; first come-first served. For grades K-8. Saturday, November 15th at 9:00 am.
Kids’ Yoga. We will learn basic yoga poses and focus on flexibility, strength, balance, coordination and body awareness. Visualization and breathing techniques promote relaxation and focus. Group activities foster self-confidence and respect for others...all in a fun, creative and non-competitive environment. Not your Mom’s yoga - this class will incorporate games, props, stories, music and more! Bring your own yoga mat or beach towel. For ages 5-11. Saturday, November 15th at 10:00 am.
Reading Buddies. Teen volunteers will be available in the Children’s Quiet Reading Area to read with a child. This is a great program for beginning readers and pre-readers to become comfortable with reading. Teens. No registration required. For ages 4+. Saturday, November 15th at 10:00 am.
