What's Happening at Middletown Township Public Library October 2-8, 2016

Free programs at the Middletown Township Public Library

New at the library: in response to patron feedback, the library has purchased five keyboards with large lettering for use by the visually impaired. Located throughout the Reference Room, the keys are bright yellow which makes the letters more visible.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: Join the debate! Who was the Cursed Child? Register online with your opinion. Form a team with like-minded muggles. Plan your defense and arguments. Tuesday, October 4th @ 7:00 pm.

The Clarity Project (Dale Lakata, Ingrid Heldt, Isis Ra) perform on Wednesday, October 5th @ 7:00 pm.

BlowUpRadio.com presents its free annual concert to benefit Spondylitis Association of America. Multiple folk and rock-&-roll acts will perform during this four-hour concert. Proceeds from CD purchases and donations benefit the Association. Saturday, October 8th @ noon.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors, a free peer-led volunteer local job search support and networking group, meets on Thursday, October 6th @ 10:00 am.

Write Club: Working on a novel or writing poetry? Inspire yourself to write and hone your skills. At each meeting there will be a writing prompt, reading of others work, and discussion. Monday, October 3rd @ 3:30 pm.

Math Tutoring: Free tutoring sessions at the library in the Children’s Quiet Reading Area. Bring textbook and/or homework. Tutoring sessions are for 30 minutes and are scheduled at 3:30 pm, 4:00 pm, and 4:30 pm. Upon registering, you will receive an email with your tutoring session time. Tutors are volunteer high school honors students. Tutoring for Calculus and above is not available. For grades K-12. Tuesday, October 4th @ 3:30 pm.

College Essay Workshop: Learn what college admissions officers are looking for, write a draft of your essay, and learn to revise in this informative and useful workshop. For grades 11-12. Wednesday, October 5th @ 6:30 pm.

Table Top Gaming: Enjoy board games? Play with us once a month, many games are featured on the YouTube series TableTop with Wil Wheaton. Wednesday, October 5th @ 7:00 pm.

Mortal Instruments Trivia Extravaganza: Calling all fans of the Mortal Instruments Series! Compete against one another to claim the title of Ultimate Mortal Instruments Fan. Members of the STAR Astronomy group offering a solar observing session in our parking lot. Have some fun while learning about outer space. Monday, October 3rd @ 11:00 am.

Lapsit Storytime for Prewalkers: Introduce your baby to the library during this gentle lapsit program for pre-walkers accompanied by a grown-up. Rhymes, songs, puppets, and picture books encourage language development. Grown-ups get to socialize with other adults and babies get used to be around other babies. For ages up to 32 months. Wednesday, October 5th @ 10:00 am.

Reading Buddies pairs a high school volunteer with a child to read aloud and learn correct pronunciation, vocabulary and reading comprehension. Upon registration you will be contacted to schedule your appointment time at 2:00 pm, 2:30 pm, 3:00 pm, or 3:30pm. Saturday, October 8th.
