FAMILY EVENTS:

A presentation of the Walt Disney film Hocus Pocus. After three centuries, three witch sisters are resurrected in Salem, Massachusetts on Halloween night. It is up to two teenagers, a young girl and an immortal cat to put an end to the witches’ reign of terror once and for all. A drop-in program. Saturday, October 29th @ 11:00 am.

Everybody “Every Body” an inspirational book that teaches children about positive body image, bullying and not to be a bystander. Join the authors for a book reading, discussion and book signing. Register online at mtpl.org. Sunday, October 23rd @ 2:00 pm.

Write Club: Working on a novel or writing poetry? Inspire yourself to write and hone your skills. At each meeting there will be a writing prompt, reading of others work, and discussion. Monday, October 24th @ 3:30 pm.

Math Tutoring: Free tutoring sessions at the library in the Children’s Quiet Reading Area. Bring textbook and/or homework. Tutoring sessions are for 30 minutes and are scheduled at 3:30 pm, 4:00 pm, and 4:30 pm. Upon registering, you will receive an email with your tutoring session time. Tutors are volunteer high school honors students. Tutoring for Calculus and above is not available. For grades K-12. Tuesday, October 25th @ 3:30 pm.

Chess: If you haven’t played before, we will teach you. Planning, confidence, patience and discipline are all benefits of playing chess. We just think it’s fun! No registration required. Friday, October 28th @ 3:30 pm.

MathStarts – Super Circles: Two and three year olds, along with their grown-ups and siblings, will enjoy games, stories, songs, rhymes and crafts that introduce basic math concepts. For ages 2-3. Monday, October 24th @ 10:00 am.

Kids Playgroup: A playgroup that encourages children to explore hands-on activities and develop social skills. Grown-ups can chat and connect with other parents/caregivers while supervising their children’s play. A Drop-In program for all ages. Tuesday, October 25th @ 10:30 am.

Lapsit Storytime for Prewalkers: Introduce your baby to the library during this gentle lapsit program for pre-walkers accompanied by a grown-up. Rhymes, songs, puppets, and picture books encourage language development. Grown-ups get to socialize with other adults and babies get used to be around other babies. For ages up to 32 months. Wednesday, October 26th @ 10:00 am.

Find the Treasure – Mock Rocks: presented by WILD Jersey. With toothbrushes and water, we will wear away “sandstone” to find hidden “gems”, t identify our finds. For grades K-2. Wednesday, October 26th @ 3:00 pm.

Rubber Duckie Book Club Storytime: for members of the Rubber Duckie Book Club/1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program. Friday, October 28th @ 10:00 am.

Toddler Time for Walkers: Toddlers learn by playing, moving, touching, making noise, looking at books, and being loved. This is what happens during toddler time! Each toddler should bring a favorite grown-up to share in the fun and learning. A Drop-in program. For ages up to 32 months. Friday, October 28th @ 10:00 am.

Reading Buddies: A child learning how to read or struggling with reading is paired with a Reading Buddy! The child chooses a book and reads aloud to their Buddy Reading Buddies who will help with correct pronunciation, increasing vocabulary, and understanding what they have read. Upon registration you will be contacted to determine an appointment time at 2:00 , 2:30, 3:00, or 3:30 pm. For ages 3-12. Saturday, October 29th.
