William F. Hemberger, 82 of New Monmouth, Dies

Married for 62 years, Hemberger was a Korean war vet, youth coach and square dancer.

William F. Hemberger, 82, loving and devoted husband, father and friend, of New Monmouth, NJ passed away at home on Thursday, September 27, 2012.

He was a 1947 graduate of Leonardo High School and was inducted into the Lion’s Hall of Fame in 1995.

He was a lithographer and member of the Amalgamated Lithographic Union, retiring in 1991.

He served in the military during the Korean War as an army engineer attached to artillery.

He was a volunteer coach of Saint Mary’s baseball, basketball, MYAA and BYAA baseball for many years. He was an avid athlete playing tennis and racquetball into his 80s.

He was a member of Saint Mary’s Parish from childhood.

He was also a member of the Middletown Ramblers Square Dance Club for more than 20 years.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Fornin Hemberger, and four children, William and Maria Hemberger of Summerland Key, FL; Gary and Barbara Hemberger of North East, MD; Mary and Richard Movelle of Tinton Falls, NJ; and Paul Hemberger and Laura Hoarle of Middletown, NJ.

He is also survived by his brother, Joseph of Port Monmouth, NJ and six grandchildren, Heather and William Hemberger IV, Brian and Hillary Herzig, Samantha and Holly Hemberger and Megan and Matthew Movelle.

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Margaret Hemberger and his brothers Robert and Francis.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2012 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Rd., Middletown.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 9:30 am at the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Monday at 10:30 am at Mary Mother of God Church, 19 Cherry Tree Farm Rd., Middletown.
