Worker Falls, Rescued From Middletown Townhome Construction Site

The rescue happened at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, February 7 at the Four Ponds development in the Lincroft section. The worker fell 12 feet.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Middletown firefighters had to rescue a worker who fell twelve feet into a basement that was under construction Thursday in the Township.

The rescue happened at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, February 7 at the Four Ponds development in the Lincroft section of the Township, according to Middletown Township fire department spokesman Dennis Fowler. The fire department and EMS were called to extricate an injured worker who fell about twelve feet into the foundation of a home, Fowler said.

The town home was under construction at the time; crews were just setting the foundation.

The Middletown fire department special services unit used rigging experts and firefighters working together to safely extricate the man from the basement hole. The construction worker was treated by Middletown EMS and transported to a local hospital; Fowler said he did not know how badly he was injured, but it was serious enough that he be taken to a hospital.

The assignment was completed under control by Third Assistant Chief John Waltz at 2:45 p.m. All units were cleared from the scene at 3:15 p.m.

Approximately 30 members from three companies of the Middletown Township Fire Department responded to the call from Middletown, River Plaza and Lincroft fire companies.
