13-Year-Olds Advance to Quarterfinals

They were the only Millburn youth baseball team to advance from pool play.

After a busy weekend of baseball for Millburn's youth baseball teams in playoff games along the East Coast, only one team of the four qualifiers moved on past the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships.

The 13's opened pool play with a 5-2 win over South Jersey on Friday in Colonie, N.Y. After a split of a doubleheader on Saturday and an 11-7 comeback win over Calvert County on Sunday, the local group advanced past the pool play stage of the regionals and are now in the knockout stage.

With their 3-1 record, Millburn advanced as the second seed in Pool A and played its quarterfinal contest at 12:30 p.m. Monday against College Point. (Results to come later). With a win they move on to face Clifton Park Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the semifinal.
