13-Year-Olds Advance to Quarterfinals
They were the only Millburn youth baseball team to advance from pool play.
After a busy weekend of baseball for Millburn's youth baseball teams in playoff games along the East Coast, only one team of the four qualifiers moved on past the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships.
The 13's opened pool play with a 5-2 win over South Jersey on Friday in Colonie, N.Y. After a split of a doubleheader on Saturday and an 11-7 comeback win over Calvert County on Sunday, the local group advanced past the pool play stage of the regionals and are now in the knockout stage.
With their 3-1 record, Millburn advanced as the second seed in Pool A and played its quarterfinal contest at 12:30 p.m. Monday against College Point. (Results to come later). With a win they move on to face Clifton Park Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the semifinal.

The regional championship game is Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the winner moving on to Levelland, Texas, for the 13-year-old Babe Ruth World Series.
Millburn's 14u squad just missed advancing to the next stage, coming up two runs short in a tiebreaker. They began their tournament with two losses on Saturday, an 11-1 win over Delaware on Sunday, followed by a loss in the back half of the doubleheader in Charles County, Md.

The 11's took an 11-8 loss to home team Severn on Friday and then dropped both games of their doubleheader on Saturday.
