$2,900 In Counterfeit Money Confiscated: Millburn Police
Dejuan Smartt tried to ditch the fake bills before officers caught up with him, police said.
MILLBURN, NJ - A 22-year-old Brooklyn, NY, man was arrested and charged with forgery, obstruction and evidence tampering after trying to spend fake cash at the Mall at Short Hills on Oct. 17, according to the Millburn Police Department.
According to authorities, Millburn Police Officer Zonn went to the mall on a report a man tried to pass counterfeit money at Macy's. Dejuan Smartt was located running on JFK Pkwy after tossing 29 counterfeit $100 bills onto a parking deck, police said.
Smartt was placed under arrest and charged with forgery, obstruction, and tampering with evidence before being released on a summons, police said.
