28 Millburn High School Students Are National Merit Scholar Finalists

Most other New Jersey high schools with more than 10 finalists were magnet or private schools.

MILLBURN, NJ — In the competition for National Merit Scholarships, more of Millburn's high school seniors have advanced to the finals than in almost every public high school in New Jersey.

Twenty-eight Millburn High School seniors have been named finalists in the 2022 Competition for National Merit Scholarships. They are among 15,000 students who are now eligible for Merit Scholarship Awards for college, which will be announced in late spring.

Among nearby districts, South Orange-Maplewood had 10 finalists, Livingston had eight, Chatham High School had three, Westfield High had two, and Madison High had two.

Finalists will be chosen by academic record, information about the school's curriculum and grading system, PSAT/NMSQT Selection Index score, the high school official's written recommendation, information about the student's activities and leadership, and the finalist's essay.

From now to mid-June, approximately 7,500 finalists will be notified as recipients of scholarship awards.

This year’s MHS finalists are: Nikhil Bansal, Maria Beloreshka, Megan Bowen, Aaron Chan, Eric Dong, Aryan Dugar, Ashutosh Gajbinkar, Ishaan Ghosh, Ruihan Hu, Angela Huang, Karen Huang, Yuliu Huang, Sophia Klymchuk, Yuwen Liang, Dhruv Pande, Ryan Park, Liam Pilarski, Roberto Prieto, Aaryan Pugazendhi, Zubin Rekhi, Ishaan Salhotra, Veronica Song, Caroline Sun, Sophia Wang, William Young, Laura Zang, Jacqueline Zhou, and Margaret Zhu.
