5 Easy Ways to Move More and Reduce Potential Health Risks in 2017
Longevity Personal Fitness Urges Americans to Get Back to Fitness Basics and Let Go of Prior Learning and Experience Movement Again
Millburn, NJ - Instead of beating yourself up over failed weight loss goals it’s time to focus on the overall health benefits of simply incorporating more movement throughout your day while at work or at home.
Get on The Floor and Yes, Roll Around Like a Baby
According to Longevity Personal Fitness (www.longevitypersonalfitnessnj.com), specialists in 30-minute research-based functional fitness programs for adults, the best way to maintain a healthier lifestyle is to move more all day long. “Sitting is considered the new smoking because a sedentary lifestyle is just as detrimental to your overall health,” says Michael Romano a certified functional Aging specialist and co-founder of Longevity Personal Fitness who has worked with everyone from athletes to retired individuals. “Get up and move for a minimum of two minutes or preferably five minutes every half hour. People are not accustomed to seeing people rolling around and crawling like a baby on the floor as part of their fitness routine, but that is what needs to happen to keep the body nimble.”

Sitting Has Often Irreversible Effects
In a recent study by the International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity noted that in addition to the beneficial impact of physical activity on levels of energy and vigor, spreading out physical activity throughout the day improved mood, decreased feelings of fatigue, and affected appetite. Many studies are demonstrating that the effects of long term sitting aren’t reversible through conventional exercise. Romano highlights the importance moving more and correctly, optimizing posture and body mechanics. Getting back to the basics of developmental movement, can improve movement and how we feel. Strength begins here. It is not what we see promoted in most gyms.

5 Easy Ways To Improve Wellness with Basic Movements
Longevity Personal Fitness advises anyone who sits more than eight hours per day to prioritize their wellbeing and embrace new habits. With diligence it will become second nature to incorporate more movement into your daily routine. Anyone can get started by getting on the floor and learning how to begin again to reduce stress, increase alertness and boost your immune system. Here’s how to press reset on your sedentary lifestyle:
1) Deep Belly Breaths (5-10 times)
-Start by lying down on your back and place your hands on your belly
-Tongue flat to the roof of your mouth, tip of your tongue behind your front teeth
-Slowly breath in expanding your belly. Pause. Slowly breathe out.
2) Head Nods
-Lying on your belly, prop up on your forearms (elbows in line with your shoulders) and nod your head up and down, side to side 10 times each direction.
3) Egg Roll (3-5 times in each direction)
-Lying on your back, grasp both legs below the knees and pull into your chest.
-With elbows flared out, start by rolling onto one side still holding your legs to chest
-Turn your head in the opposite direction from the side you are on, looking over your shoulder and with a gentle pulling motion roll yourself to the opposite side coming to a complete stop. Now go back in the same way to the other direction.
4) Hip Raises (5 times each)
-Lying on your back with knees bent and feet on the ground, raise your hips up and down. Hold the last rep up for 30 seconds.
5) Rocking
-Get onto hands and knees (all fours)
-In a rocking motion, shift your weight forward putting more weight on your hands and then back, putting more weight on your legs, do it 10 times forward and back.
MOVE BETTER. MOVE MORE. LOOK AND FEEL BETTER THAN EVER
Romano added, “Break the inevitable vicious cycle of feeling like you have failed with your fitness goals or injury from overly intense workouts. Get down on the floor to reduce stress, heal from chronic injuries, increase alertness and boost your immune system. It is a process of beginning again and having fun.”
