Affordable Housing Hearing For Millburn Rescheduled Again
A hearing on Millburn's compliance with affordable housing measures, originally scheduled for Friday, will now take place in October.

MILLBURN, NJ — A court hearing on an always controversial subject — Millburn's need to meet its state-mandated affordable housing requirements — has been postponed from Friday, Sept. 16 to Wednesday, Oct. 26.
Each New Jersey town must provide affordable housing, a mandate that goes back to a 1980s court case involving the town of Mount Laurel.
A year ago, the Millburn Township Committee approved a settlement with the Fair Share Housing Corporation, an activist group, to meet their affordable housing obligations by the end of 2025. But the plan has proved controversial, especially a proposed all-affordable housing development at 9 Main St.

Residents started a petition this year, saying the development will be too dense, and that it would be better for all residents if it had a mix of incomes. The petition has amassed more than 2,000 signatures.
Residents have been writing letters to the judge in the case, saying more resident input is needed into the plan.
