Arts Center Puts Work on Display at Paper Mill

A reception is scheduled for Friday at 4-6:30 p.m. and the exhibit will be open through Aug. 19.

More than 60 artists from northern and central New Jersey have work on display at the Renee Foosaner Art Gallery at Paper Mill Playhouse.

The juried exhibit, the summer show of the Millburn-Short Hills Arts Center, will remain on view until Aug. 19. The public is invited to a free meet-the-artists reception from 4-6:30 p.m. on Friday.

At 7:30 p.m. following the reception, the Paper Mill will offer the first of three performances of "New Voices of 2010" to close its summer conservatory program this year.

Though historic records are sketchy, M-SHAC has been exhibiting its members' work at the Paper Mill for decades, at least since the Foosaner Gallery was established in 1982 when the playhouse reopened after a disastrous fire two years earlier.

The gallery was a gift of Samuel J. Foosaner, a nationally known lawyer who practiced in Newark and Millburn specializing in tax matters. The gallery is dedicated to his wife, who was an artist.
